Access in Museums in South Asia: Publication from the Commonwealth Association of Museums
The Commonwealth Association of Museums has released a new publication titled Access in Museums in South Asia: Learning from the Commonwealth Association of Museums' Regional Workshop 2016, in partnership with the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum Trust. The report was published on Saturday, 3 December 2016, International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD). Edited by Mrinalini Venkateswaran, Catherine C. Cole and Giles Tillotson, the publication is the outcome of a collaborative workshop on 'Access in Museums in South Asia' that was held in the City Palace in Jaipur in March 2016, which brought together a variety of museum and heritage professionals. Launch of a new book on museum management
THE ARTS AND ARTS MANAGEMENT – Leadership and Cultural Institutions What is involved in managing an arts institution, and how do we go about doing it today, in a world that has become increasingly complex and demanding? What constitutes the leadership one must be capable of providing within large cultural institutions? For several years now, leadership has been a subject of great interest in private enterprise, as well as in the educational milieu. Through this book, we hope to further contribute to the discussion of this matter and to inspire the practice of arts management. ICOM Costume Committee
ICOM Costume is pleased to announce that registration for its annual meeting is now open. The meeting will be held in Toronto, Canada, 8-13 September 2015 and the theme of the conference is "exhibitions and interpretation." It is followed by a post conference tour to Montreal and Ottawa 14-17 September. Paper sessions will be held at iSchool of the University of Toronto, where we'll be the guests of the Museum Studies programme. Afternoons will be filled with visits to key museums in the city including the Royal Ontario Museum, the Bata Shoe Museum and Toronto’s newest museum, the Aga Khan Museum of Islamic Art. There is also a programme of related evening events.
